GAME #11 VS. SOUTHWEST BULLETS
The first time these two teams met it was just after a Southwest hosted tournament and both teams had played 4 games in 2 days so they were a little tired.
Friday we were expecting a different game but once again it took both teams a while to get going. Although the Wallaceburg Peewee #1 team managed to out shoot Southwest 10-2 in the 1st period they couldn't put one past their goalie.
In the 2nd period the shots and chances were much closer but it still took ten minutes in before the first goal was scored by Wallaceburg from Zander Cogghe assisted by Josh Snelgrove; something this duo has done all year! Although Wallaceburg were able to get a decent amount of shots in the first two periods it still wasn't there best performance thus far especially coming off such an amazing team game in Mooretown last week. In between periods the coaches emphasized the need to get back on their game which is a solid passing and strong positional game.
In the 3rd period this was a little more evident and early on they scored the second of the game from Ewan MacDonald. Southwest came back with one of their own but that was all they could muster as Wallaceburg managed to keep them from having many more shots and added 4 unanswered goals ending the game with a 6-1 win.
It took 2 periods to get going but Wallaceburg was good enough tonight to finish strong. The coaches continue to tell the players the importance of an early start and the need to play a smart game with great positioning, better passing and whole ice defense.
Special mention tonight to Aiden Latimer and Quinlan Fields on solid games as well as our Defense who shut down players all night. Our "player of the game" Chain goes to Holden MacDonald, who earns the honour with his great offensive/ defensive game. Also another solid outing by "Macky"!
The battle of Wallaceburg happens Saturday afternoon as Team #1 vs. Team #2!
