Game 17 vs South Kent Lightning / Game 18 vs Dresden Jr.Kings
The Aarkel Bantam Lakers TC1 team finished off their regular season in style this weekend with back to back wins Saturday and Sunday.

Game 17 vs. Lightning:

The team travelled to Blenheim Saturday afternoon to face the South Kent Lightning, a team that is sitting 4th and battling to stay in the top bracket for the Playoffs.

Although Wallaceburg was missing three from their line-up they managed to get off to a quick start with a goal by Kaiden Petranik, assisted by Aiden Latimer a few minutes into the game.  A few minutes later the Lightning got one back making it a 1-1 tie at the end of the period.

In the 2nd both teams traded goals in what was looking to be more of a tennis match with South Kent scoring one only 15 seconds in.  After the dust settled and the horn went to end the 2nd the Lakers took a 4-3 lead into the dressing room with goals coming from Kyle Morrison (2) and Jackson Oliver.

In the 3rd period the Laker's success continued when DaeVyon Longboat decided to get in on the action and score his first goal of the year!  With emotions high the team settled in and cruised to their 16th win of the season; chipping in once again was Kyle Morrison for the hat trick and Zander Cogghe.  Shutting the door in the 3rd period with a solid performance was Macky making the final 7-3.  3 Stars - Holden Mac Donald, DaeVyon Longboat and "player of the game" Kyle Morrison.  Honorable mention to Kaiden Petranik.

Game 18 vs. Jr. Kings:

On Sunday night the team closed out the regular season with a home game against the Dresden Jr. Kings.

Wallaceburg managed a quick start for the second game in a row with a goal in under two minutes by Jackson Oliver (unassisted).  Shortly after Dresden added one of their own to tie things up but it wasn't long before the Lakers answered back scoring 3 unanswered goals ending the period with a 4-1 lead.  Getting in on the action was Zander Cogghe (2) and Connor Ruttan.

In the 2nd period Wallaceburg got themselves into some penalty trouble and Dresden managed to get one back.   Within a minute of that Wallaceburg 's Ross Broadbent put one pass the King's goalie to keep the 3 goal lead.  With only 10 seconds to go Connor Ruttan added his second of the game to give Wallaceburg a 6-2 lead heading into the 3rd.

Once again in the 3rd Wallaceburg couldn't stay out of the box but their aggressive penalty kill and solid goaltending allowed for them to shut the door.  With less than two minutes to go Connor Ruttan completed a hat trick to give the Lakers a 7-2 victory and an amazing end to the regular season.  3 stars - Josh Snelgrove, Quinn Fields and "player of the game" Connor Ruttan.   Honorable mention went to Ross Broadbent and Zander Cogghe.
