BANTAM TC1 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND UPDATE
On Saturday the Aarkel Bantam Lakers wrapped up their Round Robin games in the Championship bracket.  After going 2-1-2 in the first 5 games they were looking to add the final 3 games to the win column.

In game 6 they played their fourth and final game against the Wallaceburg TC2 team.  In the first minute TC1 was able to score on a goal by Zander Cogghe assisted by Josh Snelgrove.  However, within in minutes TC2 answered back as they have in previous games making it a 1-1 tie after one period.  In the 2nd TC1 started quick again with a goal just under a minute into the frame on a goal by Jackson Oliver, assisted by Caleb Tulloch and Ethan Burfield.  This would prove to be enough as Macky shut the door on TC2 and the Aarkel Lakers went on to win 4-1.  Also scoring for TC1 was DaeVyon Longboat and Caleb Tulloch; with assists going to Jackson Oliver, Caleb Tulloch, Connor Ruttan and Zander Cogghe.

In game 7 the Aarkel Lakers squared off against the Mooretown Jr. Flags in the 3rd of 4 games.  After a back and forth first period which saw no goals Wallaceburg opened up the scoring early in the 2nd on an unassisted goal from Josh Snelgrove. Later in the frame Mooretown would answer back making it 1-1 and then within minutes both teams would trade goals again to make it a 2-2 score going into the intermission.  In the 3rd period the Flags were able to get on the board early scoring 2 goals within a minute of one another.  For the rest of the frame Wallaceburg struggle to get things going until with just over two minutes remaining Kaiden Petranik scored to make it 4-3 (assisted by Josh Snelgrove).  Then within 30 seconds Josh Snelgrove scored his 2nd to tie the game at 4 with assists going to Jackson Oliver and Caleb Tulloch, this would be the final.  Scoring the other goal for the Lakers was Zander Cogghe, assisted by Holden MacDonald.

In the 8th and final game of the Round Robin Wallaceburg would travel to Mooretown to face the Flags once again.  This time the Flags would open the scoring in the 1st and took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd.  In the middle frame it was all Mooretown with them adding 3 more to the board including one with on seconds remaining in the period.  Wallaceburg did manage however, to get one by the Flag net-minder with only minutes to go on a goal from Josh Snelgrove assisted by Zander Cogghe.  Heading into the 3rd period down 4-1 was not what the Lakers were looking to do but they were hoping a little magic was left over from the last game when they made a great comeback.  With almost 10 minutes gone in the period the team managed to start a rally when Zander Cogghe scored assisted by Caleb Tulloch.  A few minutes later they managed another on a goal from Quinlan Fields, assisted by Josh Snelgrove.  Then unbelievably only seconds later Connor Ruttan managed to tie the game on a goal assisted by Quinlan Fields to make it a 4-4 score with only minutes remaining.  Eventually the buzzer would sound on this exciting game with the final being 4-4.

So after 8 games the Aarkel Bantam Lakers finish the Round Robin with a 3 win, 1 loss and 4 tie record which is currently good enough for first place; one point over the Mooretown Flags who still have 2 games remaining against Wallaceburg TC2.  After tonight's match up between the Flags and TC2 it looks as though the Aarkel Bantam Lakers will face the Mooretown Jr. Flags in a "best of 3" Final for the Kent Tri-County Local League Bantam Championship.

CONGRATS TO THE WHOLE TEAM ON A WELL DESERVED SPOT IN THE FINAL - STAY TUNED FOR THE SCHEDULE!
