Game 13 vs. Mooretown Jr Flags
The Aarkel Bantam Lakers TC1 team took back to the ice Saturday afternoon in Mooretown to face a revamped Jr. Flags team.

The Flags who had a rough start to the season recently acquired a couple of AE players who dropped down to help with a roster shortage.

This was the second meeting in 2 weeks for these two teams with the first one going to Wallaceburg in a 5-1 decision, this time it was much closer.  Wallaceburg managed to get things started quickly less than 2 minutes into the game on a goal by Zander Cogghe, set up by nicely by Jackson Oliver.  As the period went on both teams traded penalties but managed to kill them off and keep the game 1-0 after the first with the shots unofficially in favour of the Lakers 13-4.

In the 2nd period shots were a little closer but still tipped in favour of Wallaceburg 13-9 and they managed to capitalize on one of those shots with a goal by Jackson Oliver, unassisted.  Near the end of the period both teams got into penalty trouble but once again managed to get though unscathed and the Lakers headed to the dressing room with a 2-0 lead.

In the final frame after about 5 minutes of play, the Flags managed to solve the Wallaceburg goalie when a attempt to clear failed.   A shot from the point was deflected right to the Mooretown player in the slot who finished it off by squeezing it past the Lakers net minder.  Shortly after Wallaceburg took another penalty but was able to kill it off.  With less than 3 minutes to play Mooretown took one themselves and this help seal the deal for Wallaceburg ending things in a tight 2-1 win and once again outshooting Mooretown 13-9.

3 Stars named were: Jackson Oliver, Caleb Tulloch and Aiden Latimer (with mention to Josh Snelgrove and Macky for sold games).  Although the team forgot to announce their vote for "player of the game" special mention went to Aiden Latimer for his performance.

The team looks to next week when they head to West Lorne Saturday afternoon and then host Dresden on Sunday for their final game before Christmas break.
