Oct 16th - Vs. South Kent Lightning

After an 0-2 start the Aarkel Bantam Tri County team was back home Sunday evening for a game against the South Kent Lightning.

Coming into the game both teams were looking for there first win.  The game started quick and Wallaceburg was looking tight with their positioning.  Although the Lakers managed to out shoot them 8-4 the Lightning managed to strike first scoring 2 goals at 7:16 and 3:35 of the period.  Wallaceburg scored quickly after at the 3:07 mark by a goal from Quinlan Fields assisted by Caiden Leach.

The 2nd period was the Lakers period with them out shooting the Lightning once again 10-6.  At the halfway mark of the period South Kent increased their lead by a goal but shortly after Wallaceburg added one of their own with a goal by Callahan Franquist assisted once again by Caiden Leach.  With two minutes to go in the 2nd the Lakers tied it up with Caiden Leach scoring one of his own assissted by Kamron Latimer.

In the 3rd period both teams once again traded chances with Wallaceburg edging South Kent in shots 8-6.  The Lakers carried over some great passing from the previous period and gave themselves some good opportunities.  In the remaining minutes of the game the Lakers put together a great shift and had the Lightning under pressure.  Unfortunately for them the South Kent goalie had some great saves to keep the puck out of the net and with only 20 seconds left the Lightning put one by the Wallaceburg goalie on a hard rush to the net.

This was a tough pill to swallow for Wallaceburg especially after such a great effort.  The team's "Work Horse' award went to Danny Jacques for his teamwork, hustle and leadership on the ice.  Special mention went to Caiden Leach, Ethan McLachlin and Jake Richmond.
