Oct 9th - Vs. West Lorne
After a long wait the Aarkel sponsored Bantam Tri-County team finally began their season Sunday at home against a strong West Lorne team.  West Lorne was coming into the game with a 2-0 record and was sure to be a challenge for the untested Wallaceburg team.

West Lorne struck quickly scoring only 20 seconds into the game.  Although taken off guard Wallaceburg battled hard and both teams traded chances for the much of the 1st period with Wallaceburg out shooting West Lorne 8-5.  With just over 2 minutes to go the Lakers managed to tie the game on a great individual effort and shot by Jackson Oliver.  Unfortunately by the end of the period the Comets added another taking a 2-1 lead.

In the 2nd and 3rd periods Wallaceburg's lack of game experience as a team got the better of them and West Lorne took advantage of their miscues.  With the Comets strong fore-checking it made it difficult for the Lakers to get out of their zone and this allowed West Lorne to out shoot Wallaceburg the remainder of the game ending with shots 37-18.  Goalie Aiden "Macky" MacDonald did what he could to weather the storm but the Comets managed another 6 goals; 3 in the 2nd & 3 in the 3rd.  Wallaceburg managed to add another in the 3rd on great break and shot by Caiden Leach (assisted by Ethan Burfield & Jake Richmond).

After the game coaches talked about the importance of defensive play especially in their own end and eliminating second and third chances from rebounds in of the net.  All in all they for their first game were happy with the effort against a strong team and look forward to working correcting some errors.  Our "Workhorse" of the game was newcomer Ethan Rumble who showed being small doesn't mean you can't play big.  Ethan played an aggressive style and caused some turnovers.  Special mentions also went to Caiden Leach, Jackson and Quinlan Fields.
