Novice Girls Bring Home Silver!
Congratulations to the novice girls hockey team! Hard work, perseverance and great attitudes at the Southpoint Stars Hockey Tournament lead them to earning the Silver Medal.

This weekend saw every girl put in great individual effort and solid teamwork! The Wallaceburg fans were shown shut-out hockey, multi-goal games and passing plays that surpassed previous regular season games.

Off the ice these girls showed a unique bond and sincere friendship, something that carried to the ice when they laced 'em up.

True to Laker form, they dug deep when they were pushed, and found ways to win the battles for the puck. A solid round robin record of 3-1 got them a berth to go for gold on Sunday.

They got down a couple goals in the finals against a strong Chatham team, but that didn't stop them from going for it every shift they played. Eventually their grit produced a nice set-up and they potted a goal to break the shut out.
Though that's all they could muster on the score board, they held their heads high as they earned their silver medals.

From all the coaching staff, we couldn't be more proud of our team, go Lakers!

Timbits Minor Sports Program The Timbits Minor Sports Program is a community-oriented sponsorship program for children four to eight years old who participate in local house league sports teams. Tim Hortons currently sponsors over 200,000 children who play on hockey, soccer, lacrosse, t-ball, baseball and ringette teams across Canada and in the United States. Each sponsored team is supplied with Timbits Minor Sports jerseys or T-shirts. Timbits hockey teams are often given the opportunity to play on-ice scrimmages during intermissions at Junior, American Hockey League (AHL) and National Hockey League (NHL) games. Timbits players are also given the opportunity to play in their own "Timbits Jamboree", a fun-filled Tim Hortons sponsored event where everyone receives a prize, food and beverages.
