Get Ready Lakers, Tryout Season is Officially HERE! 🏒🔥🙌
Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association is excited to gear up for another incredible season on the ice! This past year has been filled with success and celebration, including two teams earning spots at the OMHA Championships, multiple tournament victories, and a thrilling championship win at the Day of Champions for our U13 girls team this weekend! We couldn’t be prouder of our hometown Lakers for all of the growth and success they’ve achieved both on and off the ice.
As we look ahead to the upcoming season, we’re embracing the evolving landscape of open boundaries in both Co-Ed and Girls hockey. The biggest change to note is that tryouts for both co-ed and girls teams will be taking place in the spring this year.
Girls Tryout Information will be posted separately on the Girls Page on our website. Please note that the process for OWHA tryouts has not changed and will follow the same process as in previous years. The changes noted below are specific to OMHA teams. More information for OWHA tryouts, including coaching selections, dates, and tryout locations, will be coming soon.
✅ Season Prep Skates – Optional prep skates will be offered prior to tryouts. These are not evaluative skates and are to give players an opportunity to get comfortable on the ice before tryouts. These sessions are a great opportunity to boost confidence, get extra touches on the puck, and gear up for a strong tryout showing!
Prep Skates will take place on: Thursday, April 10 (U9, U11, U13)
Tuesday, April 15 (U11, U15)
Thursday, April 17 (U13, U15)
THESE SKATES ARE ONLY OPEN TO PLAYERS WHO PLAYED FOR A WMHA TEAM IN THE PREVIOUS 2024/2025 SEASON!

Coaching Interviews in Progress!
We are currently conducting interviews for our 2025/2026 season coaches. Once all interviews are complete, our coaching staff will be announced and posted shortly.
Stay tuned for updates!
Tryouts can be a stressful experience for young athletes, and it's important to remember that coaches are not only looking for skill on the ice, but also for players who demonstrate a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and good sportsmanship. Coaches value effort, teamwork, and the ability to stay composed under pressure. Players who show a willingness to learn, hustle hard, and support their teammates often stand out as much as those with strong technical skills.
We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the families, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who help keep hometown hockey thriving here in Wallaceburg. The spirit of community and the commitment to our athletes’ growth and success are what makes being a Laker so special. We are proud of the hard work and dedication from everyone involved, and we look forward to continuing this journey together—on and off the ice!
Good luck to every player in tryouts.
If you have any questions regarding registration or tryouts, please reach out to our Registrar, Cezar Soares, at [email protected].
Let’s make this season another incredible one—go Lakers!
