SEASON 2025/2026 TRYOUT INFORMATION

Starting in the 2025-2026 season, the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) will implement open borders, allowing players in the U10 age group and above to choose which association they want to play for, regardless of their residency or team category. While players now have the opportunity to play anywhere they choose, it also shifts the dynamic in the local pride of our hometown and the bonds formed within the community that supports our athletes.
Hockey in a small town is more than just a game - it’s the heartbeat of the community. The relationships you build on and off the ice are lasting, as teammates become lifelong friends, and fans in the stands cheer with unwavering passion, creating an atmosphere that is truly unique. There’s nothing like hearing the collective roar of the town when our teams succeed, a feeling of pride and unity that spreads across every corner of the community. This season has been filled with growth, hard work, and excitement. Let’s carry that momentum into next year and make it even better!
As we prepare for the evolving landscape of Wallaceburg Minor Hockey, here are some key guidelines that will be followed to ensure a smooth transition and continued success:
Tryouts for U9-U15 OMHA Rep Teams will take place in the spring this year.
U9MD1 will tryout starting April 13
U11B & U13B will tryout from May 3-9
U15B will tryout from May 5-11
All 2nd picked teams will tryout starting May 10
U18 Tryouts will take place in the fall, following Junior Level tryouts.
Tryout fees for all players will be $40 and must be paid prior to stepping foot on the ice. Conditioning skates will take place prior to tryouts. Dates and location to be announced once confirmed.
Out-of-town players interested in trying out for a Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association (WMHA) team will be welcomed, with final decisions made at the discretion of the coaching staff. Each situation will be carefully reviewed to ensure the player’s fit within the team.
Players must try out for a “B” level team in any association to be eligible to try out for a B2 team within Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association.
Once a player is offered a spot on the team, the player will have 24 hours to commit by registering through a registration link that will be provided to them by the Registrar. If the player does not sign up within 24 hours, their offer to play will expire.
As we embark on this next chapter of hockey, we want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to each family for the dedication, effort, and contributions you make to our association. Your support is what drives our success and strengthens our community. We are thrilled for the season ahead and look forward to working together to create a positive experience for our players.
Stay tuned – coaches will be announced in the coming weeks, and we can't wait to get started!
