Peewee Girls Capture Silver
The Scotiabank Peewee Girls captured a silver medal this weekend in the Ontario Women's Hockey Provincial Championships. The girls went 3-0 in the round robin facing Nepeon, Wilmot and Walkerton winning 3-0, 7-0, and 6-0 respectively. They then faced Nepeon again in quarter finals winning 3-1. Semi finals proved to be a battle that lasted 11 minutes into the third overtime period and once again the girls prevailed beating Timmins 2-1.
Giving it everything they had left but feeling the effects of the previous game, the girls fell behind 1-0 to TCDGHA - Chatsworth. Trying to capture the equalizer, Wallaceburg pulled their goalie and continued to press. Unfortunately with only 19 seconds left, TCDGHA buried an empty netter for the 2-0 win. The girls would like to thank all of their friends and families for their support, especially those who made the trip to Toronto to cheer them on!!
