Girls Hockey Tryout - Policy Update
Our association is unique in that we have teams under both Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA).

Out of respect for teams & coaches within our organization we have updated our procedures to ensure we are able to appropriately plan our teams and schedules.

WMHA Procedures – Section 2.4 in part reads as follows If a player is offered a spot on an OWHA team they have tried out for and refuses, that player is not eligible to play for an OMHA team. If a player who is registered with WMHA chooses to step on the ice for a 2nd girls rep tryout, that player has exercised the decision to opt for a WMHA OWHA team and thereby forfeits a tryout with a WMHA OMHA team unless that player is cut or released from tryouts with the OWHA team.

Having this procedure in place will call on girls to choose to play with an OWHA team in the spring of each year so we aren’t in a position of potentially folding girl’s teams in the fall if players decide to move to an OMHA team after season planning has already taken place.

Please make a careful decision on your affiliation and if you have any concerns please contact OWHA or WMHA registrars Carrie Vancoillie or Mike Moniz

Tim Horton's
Timbits Minor Sports Program The Timbits Minor Sports Program is a community-oriented sponsorship program for children four to eight years old who participate in local house league sports teams. The program's philosophy is not based on winning or losing - but on learning a new sport, making new friends, and just taking time out to be a kid. Tim Hortons currently sponsors over 200,000 children who play on hockey, soccer, lacrosse, t-ball, baseball and ringette teams across Canada and in the United States. Each sponsored team is supplied with Timbits Minor Sports jerseys or T-shirts. Timbits hockey teams are often given the opportunity to play on-ice scrimmages during intermissions at Junior, American Hockey League (AHL) and National Hockey League (NHL) games. Timbits players are also given the opportunity to play in their own "Timbits Jamboree", a fun-filled Tim Hortons sponsored event where everyone receives a prize, food and beverages.
