Welcome to the 2019-2020 Season
Hello and welcome to the 2019-2020 Novice Girls Hockey Team!

Just a few quick notes as we prepare for an exciting season of girls hockey. As you may have heard, the renovations at the Wallaceburg Arena have run into delays. However, our WMHA board is working hard to make sure conditioning camp goes ahead as planned, and practices are not affected.

For the month of September, we will be playing at Walpole Arena. Please check the website and subscribe to the Novice girls team so you get updates on any schedule changes.

To start off the season, we have a conditioning camp, and our girls are scheduled for 5:00-5:50p.m. September 3, 4, and 5 at Walpole Arena. Cost is $15.00/skate or $30.00 for all three. These skates will be shared with the boys – but that’s OK – these girls can skate with the best of them and there will be lots of on ice help available for those who need it. We have an amazing, growing girls program here in Wallaceburg, and I encourage all who can make it to come out and represent girls hockey, and shake the rust off.

Just a reminder that all remaining registration fees are due August 31, and balances are to be paid in full before players take the ice.

Our first team practice is scheduled for September 7 at 2:00 p.m. I’d like to have a quick parent and player meet and greet after the practice, so please plan to stick around for about ½ hr after the girls are finished.

We have a fun season ahead – the new hockey Canada rules are in place for all Novice age players.  September will be dedicated to skills and practice, October to Mid-January, we will play a number of half ice games against local teams. In the new year, the girls will transition to full ice games with officials and off-sides.

Over the past few seasons, our girls teams have attended a couple of tournaments and participated in some off-ice team building outings, such as decorating a float for the Santa Claus Parade, and an afternoon at the Corn Maize. All of these events encourage team building, skills development and most important – having tons of fun playing the best sport ever!

I’m really looking forward to seeing everybody at the rink, and excited for our new Novice girls squad to hit the ice.

If you have any questions, or ideas for team outings, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Thanks again Laker families for your continued support in our girls program. It’s going to be a great season.
