Pink on the Rink
It was another showdown between the Wallaceburg Novice Rep Lakers and the Lambeth Lancers on Tuesday night.  This time Lambeth hosted Wallaceburg to their Pink on the Rink event.  Players and Fans sported pink colours to show support of the ongoing fight against breast cancer.  Lambeth demonstrated tremendous class when they invited Head Coach Matt Trella and son Adam to center ice, while players looked on from the blue lines for a ceremonial puck drop in honor of Matt's mother.

The game got off to a typical Lancers / Lakers start, the two rivals were battling for every inch of ice.  Wallaceburg came to settle the score after falling to Lambeth in the Semi Finals at a tournament days earlier.  Brock Lane was his usual self and was sharp in net for the Lakers. The real story developed as Wallaceburg's defence came alive during this match.  Kai Blanchard who was awarded player of the game, broke out of his shell and delivered his best performance of the season.  Kai later credited his new pink stick tape for his extra spark. (His previous stick tape job was horrible) The rest of the D followed suit as Blake Lethbridge, and Amaya Jacobs continued to shut down the Lancer's top offensive units. Defensman Kiigs Shognosh had several rushes, and managed to assist Adam Trella on the first goal of the game mid-way through the second period.  Lambeth struck back to tie the game, and later took advantage of a broken play to take the lead. Conner Bechard and Hunter Jacobs lead the forwards with grit and hard work throughout the game. Wallaceburg continued to press hard, despite hometown refs pressing back harder. With a man in the box Wallaceburg's Trella had a breakaway in the dying seconds of the third, but was flat out robbed by Lambeth's hot goaltender.  The Shamrock League leading Lancers took the game 2-1 but every Wallaceburg Player left knowing they left it all on the ice, and showed Lambeth they were a force to be reckoned with.
