Novatrim Atom Girls Win 2 on weekend
The Novatrim Atom Girls sit undefeated in league play after beating both Petrolia and Ilderton this weekend.  On Saturday it took only 20 seconds to take the lead in a 3-1 win over Petrolia.  At 9:40 of the first period, Eniya Gittens scored to take a 1-0 lead on a pass from Olivia Alexander and Haley Vancoillie.

Half way through the second, Alexander pushed the score to 2-0 as she buried a rebound off of a Megan Berkvens shot from the point, and a second attempt by Gracie Glover.  Morgan Gorry made several great saves to keep the Petrolia Oilers off the board.  With seven minutes left in the third period, Alexander scored her second of the game from a pass from Vancoillie and take a commanding 3-0 lead.  Unfortunately just a minute later, Petrolia broke the shut out and pulled within 2.  Wallaceburg played great defence and held on to the 3-1 lead to take the win.

On Sunday, they travelled to Ilderton and proved they are a team you don't want to mess with.  Playing with heart and determination, they were once again rewarded with a 2-0 victory.  Similar to Saturday's game, they also proved that scoring on the first shift of the game sets the pace, and Gracie Glover did just that.  Wallaceburg dominated the play and Gorry once again was stellar between the pipes.  Finally with just 3:46 left in the third, Ferrah Blackbird scored to seal the win.  Wallaceburg's other strong defensive pair of Kate Martin and Hailee Schepens played large roles in keeping the opposition away from our net.  Full credit also goes out to the remaining forwards, Talia Vancoillie, Meagan Moninger, Keeley McCarter and Sammy Benedict who leave everything on the ice, and give it their all each and every game.
