Atom Girls Seek Revenge!
The Novatrim Atom Girls rolled into Petrolia seeking revenge on the Oilers after a 4-0 loss at home. The girls came out flying, and battled hard.
Finally, with 2:09 left in the first period, Ferrah Blackbird scored after she followed up on her own rebound and slid the puck through the goalie's five hole. Everyone played hard, and several girls were denied goals of their own. At 10:53 left in the third, Meagan Moninger battled hard along the boards, and was able to muscle through and send the puck out to Ferrah Blackbird who took off on a break away. She made no mistake, and buried the puck to take a 2-0 lead. Petrolia eager to win on home ice, kept coming at Wallaceburg, but was denied over and over by a strong defensive line and goalie. Finally with just two minutes left, Petrolia was able to come within one goal. Wallaceburg did not back down , and were finally rewarded with the 2-1 win. Every player played a huge role in the outcome of the game making their coaches and parents very proud!!
