Atom AE Peaking at the right time!
On Saturday evening the Wallaceburg Atom AE team travelled to Petrolia to capture their 5th win of the regular season, this being their third win out of the past five they've played. They went into Petrolia to face a foe that sits 10 spots ahead of them in the standings. Not phased by the previous loss of 11-1 last time they played and using the momentum of their last win Wallaceburg came out fighting and didn't quit until the final buzzer and walked away with a 4-3 win!
The win came as a result of solid defensive play, aggressive fore-checking and great teamwork backed up by consistently great goaltending (Aiden Mac Donald). It saw players such as Kyle Morrison continue their success with 1 goal and 1 assist, as well as hard work paying dividends to players like Josh Powers (2 goals) and Zander Cogghe (who scored his first of the year). Special mention to Ian Corkum who played smart defensive hockey throughout the game.
As the OMHA play-downs approach the team is heating up and is working together as a unit, giving themselves an opportunity to win every time the step onto the ice. Great work kids, keep it up!
