Frequently Asked Questions:

Why has the WMHA stopped running bingos?  Aren't they a great source of fundraising?

Answer: The WMHA has put our participation in bingo fundraising on hold.  We continue to struggle with getting enough parent volunteers to help out at bingos.  This will be looked at again over the next few months.  Bingos and Nevada ticket sales contribute over $10,000 of annual fundraising to the WMHA.  This equates to about $50/child which would otherwise have to come from increased registration costs or other fundraising.

Question: What league are we participating in?

Answer:  Our rep and A/E teams will be competing in the Shamrock league.  Our local league teams (house league) will still be playing in the Tri-county league.

Question: Is there contact in the Tri-County league?

Answer: Yes, there is contact in the Tri-Count league.

Question: Where can I find out more about the body checking rules for house league?

Answer: http://www.gthlcanada.com/uploads/ohfbodychecking.pdf

Are our Tri-County league teams house league or travel league?

Answer:  Although we call our Tri-County league teams our house league teams, they are actually a travel league.

Question: Why Would wallaceburg Minor hockey donate funds to Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse?

In November 2010 Wallaceburg Minor Hockey was contacted by Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse for financial support. As many of you aware the Lacrosse organizations funds were misappropriated and criminal charges have been laid. After much discussion the Board voted and it was passed by a majority of the members (three members declared a conflict of interest and did not vote)  to make a donation to Wallaceburg Minor Lacrosse in the amount of $1,000.00. As a board,  and a member of the sporting Community in Wallaceburg it was felt that based on all of the facts this was simply the right thing to do. The Executive and Board of Directors of Wallaceburg Minor Hockey was fully aware that this may not be a popular decision amongst some, but at the end of the discussion it was flet that this is about our kds in  the community and making sure they could hit the floor again come summertime. Wallaceburg Minor hockey does not in its ordinary course of business make it a habit to financially support other organizations in town as the Board members are very respectful and diligent when it comes to the associations funds. As a side note WMHA recieved unexpected support in February from Screen Art who made a donation of $1,000 to the association from the proceeds received by selling the Shaun Suisham Supperbowl T-Shirts.
